Panther Homecoming is a old fashioned tradition, just like a good piece of pie. To celebrate this revered Mart tradition, the Mart Art Co-op is inviting all Mart residents to eat pie, share stories, and check out the work of local artists. The newly established Mart Art Co-op is part of the Mart Community Project, a community initiative made possible by a generous Dulaney Foundation grant and community – university partnerships with Baylor University Oral History Institute and University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work and the Department of Writing and Rhetoric. The Art Co-op is more than a place for art, it is a space for Mart residents to come together, reunite with old friends and make new ones. Many of the University of Texas students will be serving up pie and sharing information about the projects they are working on with their community partners. They have enjoyed meeting Mart residents and getting to know the community, so be sure to come by and say hello, and of course – get a piece of the pie! To learn more about the Mart Community Project and how you can get involved to rebuild, revive, and renew Mart. If you would like to donate a pie, or volunteer for the event, please contact Sandra Hurth at 876-3203, or 744-7059. The Art Co-op will be serving pie starting at 2pm until game time.
